This video by Christian Borstlap kind of embodies a lot of the goals and mindsets behind creative session. “Together is Better”. Brilliant!
Christian Borstlap recently finished these deliciously simple animated illustrations for Dutch children’s charity, Kinderpostzegels.
Paul Postma did a great job of bringing Christian’s colourful illustrations to life, complimenting them with a playfully restrained animation style to really let their personalities shine.
Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of these hyper-real videos shot in hd. The cool thing to me about these types of videos is that they can take normal, everyday things and turn them into something breathtaking. This video by Phillip Boom hit close to home.
I just picked this book up from amazon. It’s a collection of miniature packets of booklets designed and written by Stefan Sagmeister. These booklets are filled with interesting compositions of images and words that makes a short phrase towards its end. The phrases then is combo-ed with a life lesson by the author. The visuals and the lesson coordinates with each other poetically.
I would recommend!!It is an awesome coffee table book.
For more info on Sagmeister : (wiki) Stefan Sagmeister (born 1962 in Bregenz, Austria) is a New York-based graphic designer and typographer currently living in Bali, Indonesia[1]. What is inspiring the cuts shapes and details of these winter fashion pieces? Designers across the board are adding in strong military influence to outerwear, jewelry, and bags. From lower end French Connection to high end Balenciaga, we are seeing a strong trend emerge this coming season.
Is it a reflection of the current economy? Many designers allowed the current recession to influence their lines, pulling from classic 1920/30/and 40 styles. Muted vintage colors seen in designers collections like MuiMui and Ralph Lauren can be seen trickling down to H&M collections this season. Or could it be the death of Michael Jackson, and his iconic military jacket that is influencing this military stance on the winter season? Whatever the origin of this military approach, we can all feel stronger wearing these fashions in the coming months.
French Connection Leather Military Jacket - $598
Michael Kors Chronograph Watch - $198
All Saints Jolanta Waist Sweater $200
Tory Burch Hexagonal Weave Zip-Clutch $425

The Role of a Designer? Encourage More People to Become Designers
It’s fun being a designer. We designers use our hands, heads, and hearts. We get to invent things and then make them into real things–things that we want. We use our heads for strategy, tactics, science, and thinking ahead. We actually make things with our hands: drawings, models, and samples. And we use our own emotions to connect with the hearts so that people will want what we created. The combination is what makes being a designer so interesting and valuable.
Tucker Viemeister
My father, Read Viemeister was an industrial designer–so even as a baby I could hear him brainstorming ideas, watch him make renderings, and then build stuff in the shop. I wanted to be President (back then that was more normal) but I saw that designers changed the world in better ways.
My mother, who was into politics, went to Antioch College and thought that Horace Mann was speaking to her when he said, “Be ashamed to die until you’ve won some victory for humanity.” She may have been “pro choice”–but I had no choice. She made me use my head as well as my talent. I was destined to be an industrial designer–by nurture and nature.
Years later, Steven Holt, then editor of ID Magazine visited me at Smart Design and began telling us about one of our projects. He pointed out references, metaphors, and semantics apparent to him in the design. His riff was actually reverse-engineering the meaning of our work–starting from the result, he wove an explanation transforming our normal thing into some kind of cultural emblem. This was all news to us!
A few years later we hired…..

Last night is the opening game of the 2009-2010 year- for the Portland Trail Blazer. Unfolding the year by playing the Houston Rockets who knocked them out first round last season. With the scope of things, looks like the first couple minutes justify how much growth the team has come thus far. I just know the Blazer will be a strong contender for the championship this year.
We all might be getting ahead of ourselves but….. We are truthfully all rooting for our teams to go FARRRR!!!
Feel free to check em out: http://www.nba.com/blazers/index_main.html

Her 15mins of fame is not over! When she took the podium and made use of the given 3 minutes to speak, she struck the beast so critical it began to vibrate- created momentum for the ball of change. Joya is indeed one woman who is not afraid to speak her mind! She is motivation for me and should be for you to stand up and speak for your passion, love & dignity in your pursuit of happiness. Watch the video and tell me what you think?
